In July 2025, SPICI and Fabbrica Italiana dell’Innovazione participated in EXPO 2025 Osaka on the day dedicated to the Campania Region. Within the Italian Pavilion, in front of a qualified audience of Japanese entities, both the strategic projects of SPICI and the incubation and acceleration activities of the Fabbrica Italiana dell’Innovazione Technology Pole were presented.
Furthermore, SPICI, having actively collaborated in organizing the day promoted by MIMIT at the Italian Pavilion and dedicated to the Case delle Tecnologie Emergenti (CTE), organized a preliminary exploratory mission to Japan, consisting of institutional and operational meetings in the cities of Tokyo and Osaka.
The mission had a dual objective: on one hand, to internationally promote the “Business & Tech Acceleration Program on Gaming” of CTE Napoli, aimed at attracting international startups to the Neapolitan area and launching in September 2025; on the other hand, to initiate and consolidate strategic relationships to guide CTE startups towards tangible internationalization opportunities in Japan.
The initiative represented an important opportunity for international positioning and strengthening of relations between the Campania innovation ecosystem and some of the main Japanese players active in the fields of innovation, applied research, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation.
During the mission, SPICI and Fabbrica Italiana dell’Innovazione promoted and participated in strategic meetings with key players in the Japanese innovation ecosystem, including:
• UTokyo Innovation Platform, the innovation hub of the University of Tokyo;
• IMPACT Hub Tokyo, an incubator and accelerator with a strong focus on social innovation;
• Osaka Innovation Hub, the main innovation hub of the city of Osaka, managed by the local government;
• Quintbridge, the innovation hub of the city of Osaka managed by NTT Data, a global leader in ICT and cybersecurity sectors.
The meetings allowed for direct discussions on incubation models, innovation support policies, emerging technologies, and opportunities for international collaboration, laying the groundwork for future cooperation paths between Italy and Japan.
