SPICI joins the European network ECSITE

SPICI officially becomes part of the network ECSITE (European Network of Science Centres and Museums), the most important European network dedicated to promoting science, technology, and innovation. This new milestone represents a significant step in strengthening our commitment to promoting a culture of innovation and positioning ourselves as key players on the European stage. 

Founded in 1989, ECSITE is recognized for its ability to connect over 300 members from across the continent, including science centres, museums, research institutions, and private companies, with public and private international institutions. The network's members include some of the most prestigious entities in the field of science and technology engagement, who share the common goal of creating a productive dialogue between science and society. 

The importance of being part of ECSITE

Being part of this network allows SPICI to access an international platform of excellence, where innovators and professionals collaborate to address global challenges and develop new opportunities. Active participation in ECSITE will enable SPICI to contribute in areas such as the design of interactive exhibits in science centres; STEAM education, integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics; management and collaboration strategies on an international scale. 

In their previous professional experiences, Vincenzo Lipardi, Luigi Amodio, and Anne-Marie Bruyas – respectively President, Head of Education, and Head of European Projects at SPICI – have held important positions in ECSITE, including the Presidency and presence on the Board: it is, therefore, a return to a community where they have already been key figures in many initiatives. 

Bruno Maquart, President of ECSITE and of the Cité des Sciences in Paris, welcomed SPICI's entry, stating: “As the President of Ecsite, I warmly welcome you to our network and family. Together, we share a vision: to foster creativity and critical thinking in society, emboldening citizens to engage with science. In Europe and beyond, science engagement practitioners and organisations stand for strong democratic values and have a clear understanding of the power of true cooperation.”  

A future of collaboration and growth

Joining ECSITE marks an important step for SPICI, consolidating our role as promoters of innovation and accelerators of ideas at both the European and global levels. Through this network, we will work to expand our impact in spreading the culture of innovation, contributing to creating a more aware, informed society open to dialogue with science and technology.
