Presentation of the VETEREA project: a digital twin to rediscover Capua Vetere

On 28 October 2025, at the Teatro Garibaldi in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, from 10:00 to 12:30, the event will be held to present the results of the VETEREA project – A digital twin discovering Capua Vetere, an initiative that combines research, innovation, and the enhancement of cultural heritage through digital technologies.

VETEREA is a project promoted by the Municipal Administration of Santa Maria Capua Vetere and financed with PNRR funds within the framework of Spoke 9 of the i-NEST Consortium, coordinated by SPICI Srl – Society for Innovation, Cooperation and Internationalization, in collaboration with the “Alberto Calza Bini” Interdepartmental Research Centre of the University of Naples Federico II.

The meeting, which will take place, will be an opportunity to present the features of the VETEREA app, an innovative platform that allows the exploration of the archaeological and cultural heritage of ancient Capua Vetere through an interactive and immersive experience.

Representatives from institutions, academia, and research will participate, including:

• Antonio Mirra, Mayor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere

• Luigi Amodio, Head of the Education, Training and Social Innovation Department of SPICI srl

• Antonio Acierno, Director of the “Calza Bini” Interdepartmental Research Centre – University of Naples “Federico II”

• Antonella Tomeo, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Capua and Mitreo and of the Campanian Amphitheatre

• Antonio Salerno, Superintendent for Archaeological Heritage of the provinces of Avellino, Benevento, Caserta and Salerno

• Anna Maria Ferriero, Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Santa Maria Capua Vetere

Following, the researchers and project partners – including Salvatore Cuomo and Alessandra Pagliano from the University of Naples Federico II and Giovanni Minucci from the Cooperative “Il Tulipano” – will explain the technical aspects and main features of the digital platform.

The event will conclude with the official handover of the project materials to the Municipality of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, as a testament to the virtuous collaboration between public bodies, universities, and businesses for the enhancement of cultural heritage through innovative and digital tools.
