CORALYTICS is a PoC aimed at creating a web app for the colour recognition of processed coral, supporting artisanal activities and enhancing the coral heritage of Torre del Greco. The app enables photographic acquisition of the artefacts and image processing via computer vision pipelines developed in Python, including pre-processing phases, image segmentation, colour normalisation, and pixel analysis for dominant colour extraction. The extracted data are used for the automatic classification of coral using AI models within the reference colour categories.
The PoC is carried out as part of the services of the European Digital Innovation Hub – Heritage Smart Lab (EDIH - HSL).
Objective: To develop an innovative digital tool for the objective colour classification of processed coral, supporting artisanal activities, the standardisation of processes, and the enhancement of local productive heritage.
