International Conference “Igniting Entrepreneurial Ventures in the Humanities and Social Sciences”

On 16 and 17 June 2025, at the Palazzo Mediterraneo on Via Nuova Marina 59 in Naples, the international conference “Igniting Entrepreneurial Ventures in the Humanities and Social Sciences” took place, an event promoted by the Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale” with the support of SPICI Srl as part of the initiatives promoted by the project Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti – Infiniti Mondi coordinated by the Municipality of Naples.
The conference aimed to explore the increasingly strategic role of entrepreneurship in the university context, focusing on the humanities and social sciences. The initiative highlighted how these areas can also generate new opportunities for business and economic development, through the integration of humanistic skills, digital approaches, and entrepreneurial vision.
The event provided an important platform for dialogue between academics, researchers, students, policymakers, and industry operators, with the goal of sharing experiences, operational models, and best practices developed by Italian and European universities.
Representatives from Italian and European universities participated, including the Università di Bari, Ca’ Foscari Venezia, Bologna, Macerata, Santiago de Compostela, Amsterdam, and Leicester. There were also international startups and projects born in creative ecosystems such as Creative Valley (Paris) and Coventry University. Additionally, spin-offs from Campanian universities, such as the Università Federico II and the Università L’Orientale, shared stories of a Naples capable of combining tradition and innovation, where humanistic knowledge becomes a driver of development and enterprise.
The opening of the proceedings was entrusted to the Rector of the Università L’Orientale Roberto Tottoli with the General Director Giuseppe Festinese, Regional Councillor Valeria Fascione, and the Mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi.
