SPICI coordinates the participation of Italian startups in the Innovation China Technology Roadshow – Jiaxing Session

The size and dynamism of the Chinese market continue to offer numerous opportunities for Italian and international companies looking to expand into new markets. In 2020, China was one of the few countries in the world that did not record a GDP decline, with an increase of 2.3%.
On 6 July, a new stage of the roadshow “Innovation China Technology” concluded, which involved 8 innovative startups interested in the Chinese market and coming from Italy, Germany, Israel, China, and Canada.
The event took place in Jiaxing, one of the economically most developed cities in the Yangtze River Delta with a GDP of 72 billion euros in 2020, recognized as a focal point for the development of smart cities and the ICT industry.
The “Innovation China Technology” roadshow, hosted by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology and organized by the International Technology Transfer Network, focused on the theme of “next-generation ICT”. The participation of experts and Italian startups was coordinated by SPICI.
The proceedings were opened by members of the Jiaxing city government with the presentation of local policies aimed at attracting foreign investments in the field of science and technology.
The roadshow also featured presentations from various networks, research centres, and companies active in the innovation ecosystem, including the German China R&D Innovation Alliance, the Network for International Cooperation on Technology Commercialization, and the Mobile Health Ministry of Education-China Mobile Joint Laboratory.
Chiara Romano spoke to present the activities of SPICI and to recommend possible collaborations between certain Italian companies and other organizations present at the event.
The programme's central activity was the pitching session with the 8 participating startups. Two Italian startups had the opportunity to present their projects to a large number of Chinese and international experts:
Thinking Clouds, active in the tourism sector, aims to make the visit to cultural sites personalized and immersive, even remotely; and
Rawstone Italia, which enables brands to create and manage innovative loyalty programs through gamification, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality.
