“SofIR, caring for and creating prostheses: the medical robot of the future” is the title of the article that Il Mattino, by Diletta Capissi, dedicated to SofIR, a project born from the research of two engineers from Federico II with the aim of innovating the field of rehabilitation and healthcare through interactive and intelligent robotics.

The article highlights an approach that combines scientific research, technological innovation and social impact: from designing interactive robots for assistance and care to developing low-cost prostheses and exoskeletons, designed to reduce costs and expand access to rehabilitation solutions.

As Capissi recounts, SofIR moves along a very clear path: putting technology at the service of the person, with the aim of restoring autonomy and quality of life to patients with upper-limb disabilities. Among the projects under development is also HybrHand, a hybrid device between a prosthesis and a rehabilitation glove, designed to support rehabilitation and protection in a single solution.

SofIR is part of VulcanicaMente 6 – from talent to enterprise®, the competition of the Municipality of Naples that values talent and supports the creation of new innovative start-ups with a strong technological and creative component. The operational phases of the project are managed by the RTI formed by SPICI srl and Fabbrica Italiana dell’Innovazione. A recognition that confirms the value of a path capable of guiding high-potential ideas towards concrete applications, with real effects on people's lives.
