MadHearts, a video game against youth distress": Il Mattino talks about the startup

Il Mattino, in an article by Diletta Capissi, has dedicated an in-depth analysis to MadHearts, a startup from the VulcanicaMente 6 – dal talento all’impresa® program, which is leading a project that uses video game language to tackle a very current issue: youth discomfort.
As highlighted in the article, MadHearts is developing a highly narrative-driven video game with the aim of raising awareness among adolescents about the dynamics that can lead to social isolation, also making reference to the hikikomori phenomenon. The project interprets gaming not only as entertainment but as a tool for awareness, capable of speaking to new generations through codes and methods familiar to them.
MadHearts is a team of young individuals under 26, trained at the Apple Developer Academy of San Giovanni a Teduccio, who work attentively on social issues related to adolescence. A key message emerges in Capissi’s narrative: “to detach young people from their phones, a new language is needed.” In this direction, Shattered is introduced, an interactive digital experience designed to explore and help understand the hikikomori phenomenon as a condition of social isolation.
The in-depth analysis by Diletta Capissi offers visibility to a project that addresses current social issues through digital tools and languages, highlighting the potential of gaming as a lever for awareness and dialogue.
