Italy and Georgia “STEM Study Visit to Italy” exploring the engineering laboratories at the University of Federico II in Naples.

As part of the project promoted by the COTEC Foundation and GITA-Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency, SPICI is the host organization for the two young Georgian innovators, Irina Tsagareishvili and Tsotne Kalichava, winners of the Best Innovator Award of the #Georgia “STEM Study Visit to Italy”.
Among the various activities in which the two innovators participate is the in-depth exploration of the innovative ecosystem of the Campania Region and, in particular, the discovery of the engineering laboratories of the University Federico II of Naples.
Irina and Tsotne visited the PRISMA Lab (Projects of Industrial and Service Robotics, Mechatronics, and Automation) of the DIETI (Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology), where activities and research were presented by Gianmarco Paduano, a mechatronic engineer who showcased the various prototypes they are developing in the field of robotics, explaining their functioning also through supporting videos and visiting the High Voltage Room “G. Savastano”, a unique facility.
Subsequently, at the IDEAS LAB (Interactive Design And Simulation), in the Department of Industrial Engineering, involved in various design and experimentation works in collaboration with the Fraunhofer IWU Institute of Chemnitz, the young innovators observed the equipment and activities of the laboratories, videos, and prototypes, created through 3D CAD parametric modelling, computer graphics techniques, virtual reality, numerical simulation and others, under the guidance of Prof. Pierluigi Rippa, Prof. Antonio Lanzotti, Prof. Stanislao Grazioso and the team of researchers and PhD students.
