Project Description
The EDIH Heritage Smart Lab is one of the 136 European Digital Innovation Hubs funded by the European Commission with the aim of accelerating the digital transformation of SMEs and Public Administration, with a particular focus on the sectors of Artificial Intelligence, High-Performance Computing, and Cybersecurity. Thanks to its multidisciplinary structure, the lab supports the digitalization of businesses, improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the services offered.
With locations in Naples, Matera, and Bari, Heritage Smart Lab is the only hub in Italy entirely dedicated to the digital transformation of Cultural Heritage and Cultural and Creative Industries, a key sector in the Smart Specialization Strategies of Campania, Basilicata, and Puglia. Located in East Naples, the centre serves as a reference point for startups, SMEs, and Public Administration both in Italy and Europe, offering a wide range of services for experimentation, financing, advanced training, and collaborative innovation. The lab's activities include digital prototyping, Open Innovation programs, technology brokerage, matchmaking between demand and supply of innovation, networking and sector events, contributing to the growth of the cultural and creative ecosystem.
Role of SPICI
SPICI plays a key role within the Heritage Smart Lab, providing advanced solutions and services for the digitalization of the cultural and creative sectors. SPICI's main activities include:
· Development and implementation of digital technologies for startups and SMEs, with services such as Test Before Invest, technology audit, Proof of Concept (PoC) and prototyping;
· Guidance and specialized training, aimed at increasing the digital skills of personnel and facilitating the integration of emerging technologies in the cultural sector;
· Organization of networking events, to facilitate dialogue between businesses, institutions, and the cultural innovation ecosystem, at both national and international levels.
Through these activities, SPICI makes a concrete contribution to the modernization of the Italian cultural and creative heritage, fostering synergy between research, business, and new technologies.
