CORALYTICS

Overview

CORALYTICS is a PoC aimed at creating a web app for the chromatic recognition of processed coral, supporting artisanal activities and enhancing the heritage of the coral of Torre del Greco. The app enables the photographic acquisition of artefacts and image processing via computer vision pipelines developed in Python, which include pre-processing, image segmentation, chromatic normalisation, and pixel analysis for dominant colour extraction. The extracted data are used for the automatic classification via AI models of the coral within the reference chromatic categories.

Objective

Develop an innovative digital tool for the objective chromatic classification of processed corals, in support of artisanal activities, process standardisation and the enhancement of local productive heritage.

The PoC is carried out as part of the services of the European Digital Innovation Hub – Heritage Smart Lab (EDIH - HSL).
