Cooperation between Italy and China: in Beijing, a new opportunity for discussion on innovation in smart manufacturing

On 28 March 2026, the Italy Technology Exchange and Matchmaking Session took place in Beijing, at the Zhongguancun Comprehensive Bonded Zone, as part of the ZGC Forum 2026.
The event was led by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, the Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park and Zhongguancun Development Group, and was co-organised by Beijing Zhongguancun Technology Service Co., Ltd., Beijing Zhongguancun Comprehensive Bonded Zone, ITTN and SPICI.
The day brought together representatives of innovative enterprises and institutions from Chinese and Italian technology parks, with a focus on strategic areas such as robotics and intelligent systems, with the aim of exploring new opportunities for cross-border technological cooperation and strengthening dialogue between innovation ecosystems.
During the visit, the Italian delegation was able to gain a deeper understanding of the development model of the Zhongguancun Comprehensive Bonded Zone, visiting some of the area's main infrastructure and services. The Italian representatives expressed their appreciation for the innovation ecosystem and the efficiency of the services provided.
During the exchange and matchmaking session, the Italian side presented some innovative smart manufacturing solutions, while the Chinese companies showcased advanced products and technologies with strong application potential. The discussion highlighted significant complementarity between the two ecosystems and a shared interest in exploring possible models of collaboration further.
The initiative represented an important opportunity for networking and practical exchange, helping to foster new links between Italian and Chinese stakeholders in the fields of technology transfer, industrial innovation and international cooperation.
