The size and dynamism of the Chinese market continue to offer numerous opportunities for Italian and international companies seeking to expand into new markets. In 2020 China was one of the few countries in the world to register economic growth (+ 2.3%).
On 6 July, a session of the “Innovation China Technology Roadshow” involved 8 innovative startups from Italy, Germany, Israel, China and Canada and interested in the Chinese market.
The event took place in Jiaxing, one of the most economically developed cities in the Yangtze River Delta with a GDP of 72 billion euros in 2020 and betting on the development of smart cities and the ICT industry.
The “Innovation China Technology” roadshow, hosted by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology and organized by the International Technology Transfer Network, was themed “Next Generation ICT“. The participation of Italian experts and startups was coordinated by SPICI.
Government officials from Jiaxing opened the event with the presentation of local policies aimed at attracting foreign investments in the field of science and technology.
Various networks, research centers and companies active in the innovation ecosystem were introduced such as the German China R&D Innovation Alliance, the Network for International Cooperation on Technology Commercialization and the Mobile Health Ministry of Education-China Mobile Joint Laboratory. Chiara Romano was invited to present the activities of SPICI and to recommend possible collaborations between Italian companies and the other organizations attending the event.
The program then included a pitch session with the 8 participating startups. 2 Italian startups had the opportunity to present their projects to a large number of Chinese and international experts:
– The Thinking Clouds, operating in the tourism sector, which aims to make the visit of cultural sites more personalized and immersive; and
– Rawstone Italia, which allows brands to create and manage innovative loyalty programs through gamification, blockchain, artificial intelligence and augmented reality.
