The fifth edition of the ASEM Cooperation Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation was held on June 3 in Beijing.
The Forum is an important annual meeting between Europe and Asia which aims to build an international platform to foster cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation. It is hosted by the Asia-Europe Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Center under the guidance of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The experts who took part in the Forum are recognized scientists, diplomats, entrepreneurs and other representatives of the innovative ecosystem from Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East.
On the Italian side, Vincenzo Lipardi, President of SPICI, was invited to participate in a round table and to discuss the promotion of science and technology between Asia and Europe. Bringing his relevant and practical experience in this field, he shared a series of best practices and suggestions for the internationalization of the research and innovation ecosystem.
In a parallel session entitled “China Instrumental Analysis Development Forum”, Giulio Bollino, IP Supervisor at the physical sciences department of Italy’s National Research Council (CNR), delivered a keynote speech on the opportunities and challenges for scientific development in the post-pandemic era.
The other international experts who attended the Forum included representatives of prestigious universities such as Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Dongshin University in Korea; of the Center for International Industrial Cooperation of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO-CIIC); of ENRICH in China, the Sino-European network promoted by the European Commission, of the Sino European Innovation Hub; of the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute located in China; of the venture capital company Patent Alliance Innovation Fund (PAIF), which has offices in China and the United States; of the Israeli internationalization platform INNONATION; and of consulting firms such as Globaltech_IP.
