Thanks to the network of contacts in the United Arab Emirates, SPICI organized a visit to the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park for the delegation of the Campania Region, led by the Regional Councilor for Research and Innovation, Dr. Valeria Fascione and Prof. Nicolais , Innovation Advisor to the Minister of University and Research, together with a large delegation of innovators from Campania.
The park’s CEO, Mr. Hussain Al Mahmoudi, welcomed the delegation, illustrating the priority areas of intervention, the Park’s services and the latest projects started.
The 6 most important areas of activities are based on: water management, renewable energy, environmental technology, transport & logistics, digitalization and smart manufacturing.
Among the services offered there are business support activities, networking opportunities, hi-tech offices and co-working spaces, and the research projects launched are: USKY for intelligent transport, Green Homes, houses built with compounds polymer and aerospace technology, CAFU the MENA region’s first on-demand mobile application of fuel.
Sharjah Open Innovation Lab (SoiLAB), located in the heart of the park, is the hub for innovation and technical workspace, to translate the ideas into products, with the support of qualified technicians. The space is equipped with many technological equipment, and is open to students, artists, entrepreneurs and technology addicted.
All the delegates were extremely satisfied about the visit, finding many possible ideas for future collaborations.
